A Voice Actor’s Guide To Voice Over Training

Between a Hollywood superstar and a voice actor, the latter actually works harder. It is quite tough for a voice actor to put feelings and emotions to what he is reading, all the while knowing that he’s not seen on screen. The voice actor must be able to empathize with the character that he portrays and make sure that he breathes life into the script. This is where voice over training comes into play.

Voice over training helps voice actors understand the craft and find gainful employment in a growing area. There are 1000s of cartoon and animated TV shows, web shows, TV/radio advertisements, web videos, and movies being made continually. Moreover, each movie/TV show has a cast of more than 20-30 characters. The opportunities for a voice talent basically abound internationally.

Voice over training course – the basic skills that you ought to possess

One of the most important tools of the trade is diction. Perfect enunciation is required from the student, hence, it is necessary for him to go to speech classes to master his diction. A voice talent would always have two roles to perform – the “acting,” and the “lending voice.” So, fantastic diction is not enough to begin voice over training – the student must also enroll in an acting course before joining the voice over course.

What does a voiceover training program teach?

The student learns how to analyze and interpret commercial copy for announcer and real-person roles. He also comes to understand how to interpret narrative copy and gets the hang of technical copy as well. The course educates the student how to proficiently coordinate mind, mouth and voice so that he can sound true to his character. Taking direction is also mastered by the student.

Reading, recording, play back, and listening are done over and over again in an excellent voice talent training course. This is done in order for students to get it correctly. Students warm-up and perform vocal exercises and learn techniques like timing, inflection, and articulation. They figure out how to preserve their vocal fitness. Half-way into the voice over training course, students become proficient at using and adjusting tone, pitch, delivery speed and volume for a selection of jobs.

After the main training is over, students learn how to promote their skills, tap the right contacts, and get voice over work. Instructors of the voice over course also assist them in creating a voice over demo, which would become part of their portfolio. A solid voice over training program provides students the opportunity to work in a real studio and understand what they should and shouldn’t do in a sound booth and when behind the microphone.

Selecting a voice over training course

There are two aspects to voice training. A commercial voice over course must be opted for by students who are interested in selling. Commercial voice overs are used for selling. TV advertisements, radio ads, phone and other media feature these voice overs. Selling skills are also covered by a voice over course since all commercial voice overs sell a service or a product. This program does not cover acting skills. If a student is fascinated in showbiz, then he should opt for dubbing and a movie or TV voice over course. Lip-synching is required by such courses, hence, the voice over talent also needs to master acting skills.

To conclude, all the world’s a stage and we must play a part. So if you would like to be a voice talent, and you want to learn how to raise your voice, better enroll in a reputed voice actor training program.

High Definition Golf? Launches World?s First Automated Video Swing Analysis

High Definition Golf™ Launches World’s First Automated Video Swing Analysis

Vaughan, Ontario (PRWEB) December 01, 2011

Interactive Sports Technologies™ announces the launch of the World’s first automated video swing analysis module based on Jim McLean’s World Famous “8 Step Swing” teaching system. Integrated into High Definition Golf™ simulators, this system accurately measures every part of a golfer’s swing providing instant feedback while guiding them through the Jim McLean teaching system.

This ground breaking new addition to HD Golf™ simulators was designed by the scientists and engineers at High Definition Golf™ in cooperation with world top rated golf instructor Jim McLean. Jim McLean is well known for his research on the golf swing and the “8 Step Swing” video is the all time #1 golf instruction DVD in America. McLean’s “8 Step Swing” book was ranked by Sports Illustrated as one of the top golf instruction books of the 20th century (ranked #11). The Jim McLean Golf Schools are the #1 golf schools in the United States and McLean has taught more than 100 PGA Tour, LPGA and Senior PGA Tour players.

This unique, automated video swing analysis system allows golfers at any skill level to learn and train at their own pace. The “8 Step Swing” system will record and analyze a golfer’s swing in real-time, breaking it down into the 8 steps of the McLean system. The goal at each step is to stay within McLean’s “corridors of success,” or safety zones in which your club and body are in a good position to strike the ball well. If you remain within those corridors, the system will indicate that you have “passed” that step and you can move onto the next.

The system will also analyze and detect “death moves”. A Death move, a term coined by McLean, are actions that will kill your game or positions that are so far from ideal, that you cannot recover to strike the ball well. When the system detects that your position and swing are out of the “corridor of success” or have committed a death move, it automatically alerts the golfer and presents him with video coaching from a “virtual” Jim McLean as well as some appropriate lessons, drills and tips to improve performance. The whole system is very intuitive, easy-to-use and all information is displayed in a highly organized fashion on the golf simulator touch screen and large display screen.

The “8 Step Swing” module is integrated with the HD Golf™ video swing analysis, which is feature-rich and includes a complete set of drawing and editing tools that can also be accessed easily from the simulators touch screen. Features include: freeze frame, side by side comparison, slow motion playback and a professional swing overlay, also designed with Jim McLean. Users can also save swings to a Player Locker to monitor progress over time.

“The ‘8 Step Swing’ module is an exciting addition to our golf simulator product line up. It puts yet another powerful golf instruction and training tool in the hands of our customers and gives them access to a wealth of knowledge developed by one of the best instructors in the world, Jim McLean,” according to HD Golf™ President & CEO Todd Richardson. “The golf simulator is a great environment to learn in, it’s convenient, less intimidating and provides instant detailed feedback after every swing. It’s like having Jim as your own personal coach.”

Jim McLean will be demonstrating the “8 Step Swing” in the High Definition Golf™ exhibit at the 2012 PGA Merchandise Show, taking place in Orlando, Florida, January 26-28, Booth #2413.

About The HD Golf™ Pro Golf Instruction Studio

High Definition Golf™ has developed a totally integrated professional golf instruction studio which is easy-to-use, completely modular in design and includes diagnostic tools for detailed shot analysis, video swing analysis, swing dynamics and weight transfer/balance analysis. These professional-grade tools operate seamlessly from a single computer system, providing comprehensive data collection and various simultaneous display options. The system also generates a variety of performance reports that are customizable and can be uploaded to “Player Lockers” on the web that the student can use to access and review lessons, statistics, video swing files and club fitting information, as well as sign up for tournaments and league play.

High Definition Golf™ pioneered computer vision technology for the golf simulator industry, and their systems make more measurements more accurately than any other simulator currently on the market. These include distance (carry and roll), ball speed, club-head speed, efficiency (“smash factor”), launch angle, swing-path (outside/in, inside/out), club head angle at impact, ball position (re: club-head at impact) and ball spin and spin axis. The simulator will also measure angle of attack, club head acceleration, position of maximum club head speed, club head speed at impact and swing tempo. SWIGO – New Electric Golf Trolley and Car – video 1

Ride or Walk , you choose.New golf transporter , first tested by the french actor Mouss Diouf – Salon du Golf 2008 Paris France info SWIGO : jhallioua@golfit.fr

I bought this golf kart for 100 bucks and added a 6.5hp engine from Harbor Freight for 99 dollars. Easy to do. Only thing is no reverse unless you add a tranny. I making it easy. You can also get an electric golf cart and keep it electric but put a small gas engine and a alternator to charge the batteries when they start getting low. Just add a electric start engine and when the volt meter gets low you just turn on the gas motor and let it charge while you ride. That will be my next project after this one. You can put bigger motors on the golf cart but im not looking for anything extreme. Just something to cruz around.

A Guide For Voice Talents On Voice Over Training

Between a Hollywood superstar and a voice actor, the latter actually works harder. It is quite tough for a voice actor to put feelings and emotions to what he is reading, all the while knowing that he’s not seen on screen. He must get into the skin of the character and pump life into the dialogues. It is in this area where voice over training is essential.

Voice over artists are able to master the craft of voice acting and find good employment in this field by going through voice over training. Thousands of animated TV shows, cartoons, radio advertisements, web shows and movies are made on a regular basis. Moreover, each movie/TV show has a cast of more than 20-30 characters. There are global opportunities galore for a voice actor.

Basic skills needed to join a voice over training course

One of the most important tools of the trade is diction. Perfect enunciation is required from the student, hence, it is necessary for him to go to speech classes to master his diction. Every voice over actor has two roles to fulfill – “lending voice” and “acting.” So, fantastic diction is not enough to begin voice over training – the student must also enroll in an acting course before joining the voice over course.

What’s taught in a voiceover training program

The student learns how to evaluate and interpret commercial copy for announcer and real-person roles. He also comes to understand how to interpret narrative copy and gets the hang of technical copy as well. Students learn how to coordinate the mind, mouth and voice effectively, so that they may be able to sound really true to the personality they are playing. Taking direction is also mastered by the student.

A great voice actor training program makes students read, record, play back, listen, and then do it repeatedly until they get it right. Students warm-up and perform vocal exercises and learn strategies like timing, inflection, and articulation. They understand how to preserve their vocal fitness. When students are already half-way into the voice over training course, they become skilled at using and adjusting pitch, tone, volume and delivery speed to cater to various types of jobs.

Once a student completes the training, he learns how to market his skills, tap proper contacts, and land voice over work. Instructors of the voice over program also assist them in creating a voice over demo, which would become part of their portfolio. A solid voice over training course gives students the opportunity to work in a real studio and fully grasp what they should and shouldn’t do in a sound booth and when behind the microphone.

Choosing a voice over training program

There are two aspects to voice training. A commercial voice over course must be opted for by students who are interested in selling. Commercial voice talents are employed for selling. TV advertisements, radio ads, phone and other media feature these voice overs. The voice over course also covers selling skills because all commercial voice overs sell a product or a service. Acting skills are not covered by this course. Students who are interested in showbiz must decide on a TV and movie voice over and dubbing program. Such courses require lip-synching, and so the voice over actor has to learn acting skillsets too.

To end, all the world’s a stage and we must play a part. So if you would like to be a voice talent, and you want to learn how to improve your voice, better enroll in a reputable voice actor training program.
