The first bagged Harlequin, and the first TDI Harlequin.
Those of you that know Carlton, know that this car is him to a to a tee.
He found this location a while back and always wanted me to shoot it here. Light was running out real quick so i did as best i could with the little available light left.

I love the eagle in the 1947 photo (see comments). Gas stations used to have the best adornments.

This is the southwest corner of Aurora and 105th.

Now the adornment is fittingly on the bus shelter, where we see perhaps the Cascades floating in mist, or the Olympics behind Puget Sound. While Aurora used to be entirely auto-oriented, the bus stop draws enough foot traffic for an array of pedestrian-oriented newspaper boxes.

Shades of Green plays host to 100 Nights for Wounded Warriors

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Purple Heart recipient 1st Lt. Brian Donarski’s Family was the first of many beneficiaries of “Raytheon’s 100 Nights for Wounded Warriors” at the Shades of Green.

Donarski, who was wounded during a combat mission in Iraq, was selected to represent the Army in the Pro-Am portion of the Children’s Miracle Network Classic PGA Tour event on Walt Disney World Resort’s Palm and Magnolia Golf Courses.

Thank to Raytheon’s gift, the entire Donarski family – and a few friends – got to attend the dream-come-true event. They even got to stay with Donarski in the same handicap-accessible hotel suite – the Warrior Suite – which comfortably sleeps 14 and overlooks the golf course, not far from the gates of the Magic Kingdom.

“The suite is like a home away from home,” Shades of Green Director of Sales and Marketing Kimberly LaTendresse said. “where folks can enjoy family time in the living room playing games or watching the flat screen TV. At Shades of Green, we have so many different activities— like the spa, pools and Family activities like the Kids Cookie Night and dive-in movies— Families can stay right here on the resort and have a great vacation."

Dozens of Families of Wounded Warriors will receive a complementary stay at the Shades of Green, an Armed Forces Recreation Center operated by the Army Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command. Raytheon has paid in advance for 100 nights to be donated to Families of Wounded Warriors over the next year.

“The intended purpose of our donation is to show our support to active duty military, Families, retirees and Department of Defense civilians,” Raytheon Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Communications Pam Wickham wrote in a letter to Shades of Green General Manager Brian Japak. “Their willingness to sacrifice to build a better future for others and to preserve our way of life can never be repaid; however it is our hope this small gesture will show our deepest appreciation for all they do to support and protect our country.”

Shades of Green officials worked with the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa to select Wounded Warriors to stay in the suite.

"We coordinated with the social-work case managers from the hospital’s poly-trauma unit who are working with the Families going through treatment to put the offer out there," LaTendresse said in reference to the selection process for Raytheon’s 100 free nights. "The Families then contacted us directly, to coordinate their stay with us."

Shades of Green bases room rates on a sliding scale according to the sponsoring guest’s rank, making it an affordable way to enjoy a Disney vacation. Discount tickets to all nearby theme parks are also available in the resort lobby through the MWR Information, Tour and Travel office.

Cincinnati Mills Mall – Interior View
Pro Golf Discount

At first glance Cincinnati Mills looks a lot like the other half dozen or so malls around Cincinnati. However, upon a closer look one notices that this one has a different twist. Like the others, Cincinnati Mills is big and bright, with sparkling fountains and scores of shops. Unlike the others, it is not anchored on each end with a major department store.

The primary Anchors for Cincinnati Mills just happen to be two of my favorite stores. On the west end is Outdoor World, by Bass Pro Shop. They major in fishing and hunting supplies and I don’t hunt and seldom fish. However Outdoor World also has a very good camping department, and being an avid camper I have shopped there often. Also, they carry a good line of sturdy, durable casual clothing and much of my travel wardrobe comes from there.

On the east end of Cincinnati Mills is Biggs – a BIG discount and grocery store on the order of a Super Wal-Mart. You can get most anything there, and at a better price than most other places.

In between are dozens and dozens of smaller shops. There are a few of the trendy name-brand outlets you might see in other malls, however this mall also has more independent one-of-a-kind shops than you’ll normally find in a mall. Maybe the rent is cheaper here.

Cincinnati Mills also has a children’s amusement area, complete with roller coaster and other rides. You can also play indoor miniature golf, take ballroom dancing lessons, watch a movie, or do other interesting things here.

Sometimes when the weather is too cold, too hot, or too wet, I do my daily walking indoors, and for that this is the best mall in Cincinnati. It is huge, on two levels, and usually not crowded.
